Course Title:   Diploma in Culinary Entrepreneurship

OVERVIEW

The nine month Diploma in Culinary Entrepreneurship is open to those who wish to engage in the food business by setting up their own restaurant or any type of food service operation.

To prepare students for a successful entrepreneurial venture they will undertake the regular six months culinary arts program and continue their studies for three more months to gain managerial and business competencies modules. This entrepreneurial course covers subjects such as market research, conducting feasibility studies and preparation of a business plan, catering/banquet management, purchasing and cost control.

The Diploma in Culinary Entreprenuership is certified by the American Hospitality Academy.

We are now the Master License holder for the American Hospitality Academy and the first American Hotel School in South Africa.

Course Requirements APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR SA CITIZENS AND PERMANENT RESIDENTS

A completed, signed original application and enrollment form.
R300 non refundable Application fee.
Proof of graduation: Official high school / secondary school transcripts or UMALUSI Certificate.
Two Letters of Reference: one from the Principal or Guidance Counsellor, one from a former teacher.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

A completed, signed original application and enrollment form.
Proof of graduation: Official secondary school, University or College transcripts with (a) an official English translation of the transcript (b) a grading guide that gives equivalent U.S. grades.
Proof of English competency. AHA-SA will accept as proof a TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) score of at least 500 or sufficient documentation of a significant level of English instruction. An IELTS score of 5.5 is also accepted.
All programmes are delivered in English, therefore students English abilities will be measured by an English Entrance Test administered before they enter the academic programme. Should students fail this test AHA-SA shall recommend they undertake remedial English or an ESL course (English as a Second Language) either before starting their academic programme or as part of their first terms coursework.
