Course Outline:
The course consists of three modules.
Bookkeeping and accounts level one:
The Bookkeeping and Accounts level 1 course is aimed at people seeking a first qualification in bookkeeping and accounts.
This course is will give the learner an understanding of bookkeeping and accounts within a business context and provide a foundation upon which to progress within this particular area of study.
Students who are successful in this examination would be qualified to fulfil a junior role in an accounts office.
Bookkeeping and accounts level two:
This course is aimed at people seeking to develop foundation skills in bookkeeping and accounts.
This course will provide a degree of specialisation within a broad course of study in business and finance.
Students who are successful in this examination would be competent to fulfil a wide range of routine functions in an accounts office
Accounting level three:
The course is aimed at those students who need a certificate of accounting competence to become a Section Leader in a large organisation, or a Senior Book-keeper in a small organisation. Successful students will also be competent to act as Secretary to clubs and voluntary societies.
This course is also a useful complement to the study of Cost and Management Accounting, serving as a basis for those wishing to specialise in Cost and Management Accounting at a later stage.
Certification:
Students write a City and Guilds examination at the end of each level and, if successful, are awarded a certificate of competence.
The course is presented in 14 lessons over a period of seven weeks. Lectures are on Mondays and Thursdays, and students have a choice between morning or evening lectures.
