Mosaic Workshops
At Jabezz Arts & Craft we teach the art of mosaics - from beginners to advanced classes. Our workshops offer students the opportunity to learn the skills of this ancient art form in a relaxed, sociable and fun atmosphere. The art of doing mosaic is really quite easy and requires only a small measure of inherent artistic talent. So long as you can hold a pencil in your hand you should be fine. Inspiration for the design of your artwork is easily found in the world around you, from photographs, pictures or patterns. A wide range of Mosaic books are available to assist in design selection. Your imagination really is the only limit.
The morning Mosaic Class teaches you all you need to know about the basic mosaic skills, from design and color, to cutting and grouting. Use is typically made of porcelain tiles although glass and ceramic tiles are also available. An introduction to the basics of mosaic techniques will be explained, including the direct method. Each stage of the process is different so there’s little chance you will be bored. With each step we demonstrate, explain and advise, helping you to execute your own ideas.
You will receive basic worksheets containing introductory notes on the art of Mosaic. The prime objective of our classes is for you to relax, have fun and let the creative juices flow.
The morning workshop affords you a relaxing morning, come along with friends or family and create a work-of-art which can be taken home and enjoyed, or given as a present to someone special – nothing says you care like a gift made with your own hands.
Material Available
Our extensive mosaic tile range for craft mosaics (interior and exterior use) includes glass mosaics, unglazed and glazed ceramic mosaics, stainless steel mosaics, handmade mosaic tiles, stained glass, natural tiles and much more. We also stock DIY kits and basic tools to start you off. Visit our studio for all your mosaic supplies.
Workshop Dates & Times
Our courses are filling up fast – check out all the new course dates (Mosaics). We have introduced a new mosaic course which will run monthly. This course teaches you how to create ceramic mosaics on a Jug/Vase or small Pot. The morning classes take place on Saturday mornings from 08:30 am to 11:30 pm. Alternative times can be accommodated for group bookings on special request.
Morning Mosaic Workshop
Duration: 3 hours. The price includes glue, grout, gloves and the use of all the tools in the studio.
A small basic project will be made from start to finish which can be taken home by the student. You can choose ONE of the following items for your basic class:
1. Key Rack/ Kitchen Towel/Bathroom Rack
2. Wooden Cross
3. Owl ( one large or set of small ones)
4. Butterfly
5. Gecko
6. Sea Horse
7. Dragon Flys
8. Pot or Decorative Stands to use in any Room (Round Shape)
Workshop fee includes all basic materials needed for class as well as standard colour porcelain tiles. The fee excludes inserts & special tiles – available at extra cost. Please Note: Red & Orange tiles, available at discounted price of R15.00 (normally between R20-25) each, applicable to all classes. Discounted price only applies when you attend workshops.
