Course Title:   Presenting for Television - Johannesburg

DESCRIPTION

This course is for those who want to learn to present a variety of different approaches in presenting in front of the camera and to develop a Film and Television presence. The course also prepares students for auditions in the Film, TV, and Commercial industries. Vocal training and communication skills are covered in depth.

LECTURER

Janus du Plessis works professionally as an actor, presenter, character voice and voiceover artist, scriptwriter and director. He holds a BTech Degree (Drama) from the Tshwane University of Technology. During his studies he was Assistant Theatre Manager for the Rostrum Theatre at the university and taught Production to first year Drama students.

Janus has performed professionally in a variety of Theatre and Television shows which include: Eskorts (KKNK) 2004, Begeertes (Kyk-Net) 2006, White Powder (State Theatre) 2006, Interchange (Grahamstown Arts Festival) 2006, Sasol Corporate Videos 2006, Angel Song (MNet) 2007, Ester & Hester Bester (Kyknet) 2007, and Erfsondes (SABC) 2007, Villa Rosa (Kyknet) 2009 among others. He appeared in television commercials and music videos for MTV, Carfax, Rigley’s and CTM and has done voiceovers for a variety of private companies as well as being involved as a voice talent in various animation movies and series.
 

COURSE OUTLINE

• Vocal techniques - including breathing and diction.
• Improvisation – including releasing inhibition, tapping into personal resources, encouraging imagination, exercising the ability to ad-lib.
• Script - including text, tone, emotion and personalizing.
• Camera - including relating to the camera and understanding the meaning of a Film and TV presence.
• Pitching the presenting techniques at the right target market i.e. Children’s show, Travel channel, Cultural Variety programs, Lifestyle channels etc.
• Audition - including preparing for auditions and communicating with the director, cast and crew.
