Background

This course is designed to equip students with skills for creating successful design, while simultaneously creating a quality, varied portfolio of work. This is a traditional design course, working on the drawing board with conventional art materials. This course is ideally suited to those who wish to enter, or are already employed in the field of Desktop Publishing to upgrade their skills from DTP operator to DTP Designer. It is also ideal for those entering the lucrative Web Design field in order to learn valuable design skills.

Good quality pencils (HB, 2B, 4B)
Eraser
Prestik
Ruler
A3 Drawing pad
Thick black Koki marker, preferably with angled tip
Fine point felt tip pin (Fineliner)
Spraymount adhesive (spray-on glue)
NT Cutter
Scissors
Tracing paper (A3 sheets)
1 black, 1 grey Pantone or Copic markers
Purchase and bring along when required:
Watercolour paint, good quality brushes, and watercolour paper
Paint mixing palette, water container, and rags or paper towels
Acrylic, Plaka, or Gouage paint (in primary colours for easy mixing or matching shades)
Different shades of heavier paper for collage work and packaging
Mounting board (for portfolio)
A3 Flip file or portfolio

Other media that the student may wish to use will be allowed.
