Just as it takes time to learn how to use any new tool, at the simplest being a pen and pencil, to operating large machinery, it takes time to learn all the tools available in a software application before it becomes like second nature. To gain a good working knowledge of a software application, it is suggested that a minimum of 20 hours are spent on training, per package.
My approach is to empower the student with the necessary knowledge in order to use a specific software application, whilst removing blinkers about other software packages. I never spoon-feed and focus on encouraging the student to experiment and explore for themselves, while I provide guidance to move through the various processes. I also share valuable tips and tricks of the trade that are not always taught in short courses offered at formal training institutes.
