This Beginners Course 1-4 can be taken by any learner who wishes to learn more about basic woodworking. This course covers a period of 4 days and Costs R3000.
Beginners Course:
Part 1:
Ø Basic understandings of Woodworking
Ø Knowledge of Tools – Safety
Ø Differentiate between a few Wood attributes
Ø Drawing Techniques in woodwork
Ø The Makeing of a very simple small article.
Part 2:
Ø Deeper understanding of Woodworking – Joints construction
Ø Practical use of hand tools
Ø Different kinds of wood - properties
Ø More advanced drawing techniques
Ø The make of a little more advanced wooden article
Ø Sanding techniques and final finishing touches.
Part 3:
Ø Deeper understanding of Woodworking - joints construction
Ø How to make several taps that is used in woodworking
Ø Mastering Woodworking tools: - sharpening of cutting tools
Ø Practical use of Hand tools : advanced
Ø Wood Varieties Basics: identify and choice of wood for different articles.
Ø Advanced Drawing Techniques: Orthographical and Isometric principles
Ø The making of a more advanced wooden article ( with wood of your choice)
Ø Sanding techniques and final finishing touches
Ø Calculating the price of an article on the current market value and how to calculate it
Practical and theoretical evaluation will be done after each course.
Qualification Certificates for learners who completed these courses successfully.
Note on ALL courses: courses run from Monday to Thursday First week of the month(Fridays can be arranged however at extra costs) From 7:30am to 17:00pm with a lunch break of one hour 13:00 to 14:00.
Accommodation can be arranged at local Bed and Breakfast, payable by the learner self.
