Course Title: Converting to other types of aircraft -The Type Rating
Converting to other types of aircraft - The Type Rating
Basic pilot training is carried out on a Cessna 152. You will also have the opportunity if you so wish to carry out familiarisation training on other aircraft. The amount of flying training required will depend on the complexity of the systems on the new type as well as, of course, the student's aptitude.
Our Cessna 172's are also used for basic training. These 4 seater aircraft are a relatively easy step up from the Cessan 152 and students may, at an extra cost, choose to conduct all there training in the C172 or alternatively include a conversion to the C172 in your Private Pilot Training so as to leave with experience on both types and a second aircraft on your licence
A further step will be to convert onto our C72R. This is a Cessna Cutlass. It has retractable undercarriage and a more sophisticated variable pitch|constant speed propellor. Once the conversion to the 172 is complete it will require 4 to 5 hours additional training to convert onto the Cessna 72R
Of course for those continuing on to a Commercial Licence or in fact for those Private Licence holders who already have the required minimum experience, we have available for a multi-engine conversion a Beechcraft BE58 Baron and in addition other aircraft from a Cherokee 6 to a Cessna 208 Caravan are available through Sheltam Aviation our neighbours on the field.
Please ask us if you have any special requirements.
