Course Title: Skills Programmes for Filed Rangers
The Skills Programmes for Wildlife Management includes the General Assistant, Field Ranger and Senior Field Ranger Programmes. These programmes are generally presented as follows:
1. Attend 7 day theoretical and practical training session at the Aardvark Private Nature Reserve.
2. Complete one year of practical experience with a recognised wildlife management institution, e.g. game lodge, private nature reserve, national park etc.
3. Complete assessment on theoretical and practical components.
Field Ranger training is done with the requirements of the Skills Programmes in Conservation in mind. This means after successful completion candidates will obtain a National Qualification.

How to achieve a Skills Programme in Conservation
The training is offered as one 7-day training session followed by practical experiential training afterwards. Some of the modules will require co-operation from reserve managers, e.g. certifying competence in Erecting and Maintaining Wildlife Fencing from the practical perspective.
The process is structured as follows:
• Attend appropriate Skills Programme Course (7 days)
• Return to reserve and implement new knowledge
• Assessment on skills certified by reserve manager and The Nature College assessor (standardised assessment form) after period of 12 months
• Declaration of Competence issued
• National Qualification Certificate issued.
