Course Title: Trails Guide Course
Our Trails Guide Course consists of three phases:
1. a preparatory self-study phase (approximately two weeks) during which candidates have to complete preparatory assignments.
2. an attendance phase of 6 days presented at the Aardvark Training Centre.
3. a practical phase where candidates have to comply with the practical requirements in their work environment. They must acquire a minimum of 30 days practical experience with dangerous animals, as well as 10 approaches to dangerous animals before attaining the Intermediate Level, which will qualify them as back-up guides.
The course covers all the theory relating to the FGASA syllabus for the Trails Guide, and learners will be assessed on the THETA Unit Standards 8459 (View Potentially Dangerous Animals) and 10750 (Handle a Rifle). Shooting exercizes will comply with FGASA Intermediate Standards.
The course is presented by Johan Fourie. Candidates will be exposed to extensive practical and theoretical experience in a biologically rich area. The next course date is 14 - 19 July 2007.
