Course Title:   Internetwork Systems Specialist (ISS)



To equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills (e.g. in security, networks, internet and computer hardware) to pursue a career in inter network systems, internet-related information technology and related fields.

This qualification will enable you to maintain and administer a wide range of proprietary server hardware and the relating software, to keep the productivity of business' at a peak. This qualification serves as a platform for pursuing more advanced studies in networking technologies. The program will equip students with relevant knowledge and practical skills concerning IT networks, security, internet and the latest computer hardware. The curriculum is based on international certifications for A+, N+, wireless networking and Linux+. Included in the curriculum are also project management and voice over IP technology.

Students will be able to acquire international certification through international examinations in individual modules. Prestige Academy is a registered Comptia member (Comptia Membership ID: 403217)



Computer Hardware Management (A+) (18 credits)
The A+ certification covers all objectives for the new Comptia A+ certification, including IT Technician, Depot Technician, and Technical Support Technician. (Troubleshooting, building computer systems, hardware components as well as the popular operating systems such as Windows, Red Hat Linux and Novell Netware).

Operating Systems (18 credits)
An IT worker will use different operating systems. Troubleshooting operating systems and other software-related problems forms an integral part of the IT worker. They will use the operating systems to manage disks, directories and files.

Voice Over Internet Protocol (16 credits)
The course starts with the basics of voice technology. It lays the foundation for gaining hands-on skills and significant understanding of voice packets in telephone systems. VolP covers both hardware and software aspects of this technology, the different protocols needed to set up and administer a VolP network.

Linux Administration (22 credits)
One of the most customizable operating systems in use today, covering the integration of Linux with Windows, and running Linux network services. You will be able to write the International Comptia Linux+ examinations on the listed subjects. We follow the latest FEDORA Core distribution syllabus.

Wireless Networking (20 credits)
Wireless Networking is the fastest growing sector in the IT industry today. The following specific aspects are covered: Wireless LAN Concepts, Designing a Wireless LAN/WAN, Radio Frequency Concepts, VolP, Antennas - Types and Ranges, Link Planning, Wireless products, case studies and practical labs. Develop technical skills in wireless network planning, design and management.

Network Engineering (18 credits)
Configuration and operating a variety of networking products and operating systems, configuration of different types of networks and their network cabling, using different networking technologies, different communication "languages" (protocols), alternative network connections (e.g. satellite, microwave and infra-red technologies) and troubleshoot network-related hardware such as hubs, routers, switches, network interface cards and gateways.

Project Management 1 (8 credits)
Delegating tasks effectively, apply time-management principles, provide out-source services to clients, and apply effective management practices to streamline the running of an IT Department through effective project management.
