Course Title:   PADI Specialty Instructor

The PADI Specialty Instructor Training program is designed to teach candidates how to both organize and conduct PADI Specialty training courses inside the PADI system of diver education, as well as emphasizing the importance of Specialty Diver training. These different Specialty Instructor training programs are also often interlinked as a basis for the Master Scuba Diver trainer preparation program. By completing these specialty instructor-training courses with a course director, instructor candidates only require proof of 10 logged dives in each specialty area compared to 20 logged dives per specialty when doing direct application to PADI. And thanks to formal education provided by the CD during this program candidates do not require the 25 diver certifications required when applying direct to PADI.

Course Title 2 PADI Specialty Instructor Classification Sport -> Scuba Diving -> Instructors Course Course Requirements Be a renewed PADI Assistant Instructor, PADI Required Equipment: Fins, Mask, Snorkel and appropriate exposure protection Cylinder and weight system Regulator with alternate air source and SPG Depth gauge Timing device Compass and Knife/divers tool Emergency signaling device Equipment relevant to specialty Price Notes Instructor or have completed an IDC or Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program within the past 12 months. a. Certified PADI Assistant Instructors may participate in PADI Specialty Instructor Training courses prior to attending an OWSI program and PADI Instructor Examination (IE). After successfully completing training, PADI Assistant Instructors may apply for Specialty Instructor certifications in non-diving specialties, such as Equipment Specialist, as long as all other certification requirements are met. b. For all other Specialty Instructor Training courses, PADI Assistant Instructors must successfully complete an OWSI Program and IE prior to submitting Specialty Instructor applications. c. Candidates who have successfully completed an IDC/OWSI program, but not an IE, are required to be certified as PADI Assistant Instructors before submitting any Specialty Instructor applications for non-diving specialties. 2. To attend a PADI Enriched Air Instructor Training Course the participant must also: a. Be certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver or equivalent (equivalency means trained in the procedures and use of enriched air nitrox for no-decompression diving with blends of up to 40 percent oxygen). OR b. Complete the PADI Enriched Air Diver course in conjunction with the PADI Enriched Air Instructor Training Course. 3. To attend a PADI Semiclosed Rebreather (Ray or Dolphin/Atlantis) Instructor Training Course the participant must also: a. be certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty Instructor. b. be certified as a PADI Semiclosed Rebreather Diver (Ray or Dolphin/Atlantis, as appropriate) or equivalent OR complete a PADI Semiclosed Rebreather Diver course (Ray or Dolphin/Atlantis, as appropriate) in conjunction with the PADI Semiclosed Rebreather (Ray or Dolphin/Atlantis) Instructor Training. 4. For Cavern Diver, candidates must submit proof of certification as a cave diver by a recognized organization (example: NSS, NACD or other equivalent, authorized organization) in addition to the dive documentation.
