Course Title:   Type Rating Conversions

Loutzavia offers conversions on our entire fleet of aircraft which include the following:

   1. Piper PA 28-160 Cruiser
   2. Piper PA 28-180 Cherokee
   3. Piper PA 28-181 Archer (2000 model)
   4. Cessna 172 skyhawk (160 horsepower 4 seater)
   5. Cessna 182( retractable gear)
   6. Piper PA 28-235 Cherokee
   7. Beechcraft Baron C55 (six seater, multi engine, fuel injected, variable pitch, retractable undercarriage)
   8. Cessna C208 Grand Caravan (Single engine turbine, 10 seater aircraft.)

Requirements for a conversion to type (single engine to single engine)

    * 1 hour dual training exercises in the general flying area on the following exercises
          o Effects of controls
          o Straight and level flight
          o Climbing
          o Descending
          o Stalling
          o Turning
          o Emergencies
    * 1.5 hours dual circuit training (exercise 12 & 13) with at least 3 light load take-offs and landings and 3 full load take-offs and landings
    * Complete a type rating technical quiz on the specific aircraft type.
    * Conversion form to be submitted to the South African Civil Aviation Authority
    * Your logbook must be endorsed by the flying instructor conducting the conversion

Duration of the conversion

On average a full conversion to type will take approximately half a day for the smaller aircraft and up to 3 to 5 days for the initial turbine conversion on the Caravan.  An initial Multi-engine rating will also take 2 to 3 days due to the minimum number of hours required by law.
