Course Title:   Intermediate Photography Course

The Intermediate course consolidates and develops on the skills and knowledge acquired in Foundation, expanding the range of photographic skills and knowledge, including technical and practical skills, visual literacy and professional practice. Students begin to build up a portfolio of work and a deeper understanding of the way meanings are made and interpreted through images and of the way one would operate within the photography industry.


The Market Photo Workshop is dedicated to the training of new photographers and furthering the practice as a viable career choice in South Africa. The extensive facilities of the Market Photo Workshop provide the resources to effectively train learners in an engaging and worthwhile manner through the use of our fully equipped studio and darkrooms, state of the art digital/analogue equipment and colour printing facilities. Our new premises located at 2 President Street, Newtown create a stimulating atmosphere for students to work in while providing an opportunity to engage with the urban spaces of Johannesburg directly. The diverse courses we provide cater for every level while our accomplished trainers provide the support needed in learning the skills needed to be a successful photographer. Offering expert guidance and inside perspectives, our trainers steer students toward an excellent work ethic designed to offer them the best possible chance to create a viable income within the field. The courses offered are a Foundation course, an Intermediate and an Advance training course. These are offered in a full time and part time structure and runs several times a year.  In addition to this, the Market Photo Workshop has a new course to offer, which is the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography course which is a full- time, year long course.
