Course Title:   Interior Decorating

Is  this the right career for me?

The course is suited to people who want to learn how to be more creative in decorating interior spaces. People who have no decorating qualification, as well as those seeking a refresher or post-graduate qualification, are catered for.

We have specifically written the course with the serious practitioner in mind. We expect that the graduate will be more likely practice in the commercial, rather than the domestic, environment. As such the course is not suitable for those with a casual or recreational interest in Interior Decorating (ie it is not a curtains and cushions course).

how is the course structured?

The Interior Decorating Certificate course is either a 10 month part-time, 6 month full-time or correspondence based course consisting of a series of modules which are assembled to form a useful qualification.

As Inscape is a private college, it is flexible, result-oriented and geared to market needs. The course modules are written in on-going consultation with industry to ensure their continuing relevance.

Continuous assessment of student progress ensures that, on completion of their studies, they may be expected to be fully competent to play a productive and profitable part in industry.

what is covered in the course?

On completion of the course you are qualified to:

• plan an interior space, taking into account the furniture, wall and floor treatments, colour schemes and most importantly, the people who will use the space;
• produce artists impressions of the space;
• draw layout sketches and elevations showing dimensions of particular elements and features;
• decorate the interior space, taking into account all relevant influences and desired effects;
