Course Title:   Aerobatics Training at CTFTC

CTFTC provides year round conversion, spin/upsets and aerobatics training in the Yak-52. Training is aimed at all pilots PPL and above. The Advanced Handling Training (AHT) syllabus, which is oriented towards students obtaining the SA Aerobatics Rating, is a fusion of the original Russian DOSAAF training system and western competition style. Training includes reliable and consistent recognition and recovery from all types of rotations including flat, inverted and aggravated spins.

Successful students leave with a whole new perspective on flying. They are more confident, more competent and hence safer pilots. Under-writers Regent were reticent to stay in the Yak insurance market following several hull losses. However, following detailed discussion with CTFTC CEO Findlay Smith and Chris Readman of Alexander Forbes, they agreed to back the program at CTFTC and furthermore may offer discounted hull insurance to Yak-52 owners who complete the rigorous conversion and safety training conducted here.
Is your flying in a rut?

You may have a PPL and need a fresh challenge. You may be well on the way to gaining your professional flying status. Maybe you are already flying for the airlines. Flying with an experienced aerobatic instructor, you will develop the confidence to fly more competently and more safely than most other pilots. You’ll have a lot of fun in the process. Above all, you will be progressing towards being a safer, more competent pilot overall.
We know what you did last Sunday!
Think about the last time you hired the school aircraft for a Sunday lunch jolly. What did you spend?

Aircraft lease 3 hrs at R700 = R2100
Landing Fees Local R30
Away Landing Fees 2 at R40 = R80
Lunch for 3 R240
ATNS fees R anyone’s guess!

So you spent around R2,600 for 3 lunches. Chances are you neither learned too much nor sharpened your skills any further. Just R2,600 spent on maintenance of your existing standard and the enlargement of your waistline. That’s fine.

HOWEVER - is this why you learned to fly or is there more to experience? For a similar amount, you could have gone on two AHT sorties in the Yak-52.
