Course Title: Wilderness conservation & Wildlife research experience
Volunteers joining Askari immediately become an extension of the conservation and research team. From game capture and anti-poaching patrols to prescribed burns and cheetah tracking, volunteers are immersed into the activites taking place on this leading benchmark reserve.
Projects vary depending on the time of year and volunteers must be flexible. If an emergency arises, the Askari team will be needed to assist and are involved in every aspect of the reserve.
As well as assisting in the running of the reserve, Askari are responsible for all wildlife monitoring and research. Projects include herbivore age & sex ratio drives, predator demography, bird of prey monitoring, cheetah reintroduction and monitoring and much more. 'Project Impisi' is the ground breaking brown hyaena research being carried out by volunteers and staff at Askari.
If you have a passion for wildlife and nature and want the work you do to really make a difference, then Askari is for you. It's a hands on project where you can enjoy world class wildlife viewing while making a real contribution to conservation in Africa.
